Netflix hires new director of preschool animation

Children's media consultant Kevin Clark will report to Heather Tilert in a new role at the SVOD.

Netflix has hired children’s media advisor and consultant Kevin Clark as its new director of preschool animation. Based in LA and reporting to preschool content director Heather Tilert, he starts this month.

In the past, Clark has consulted on diversity, content development and strategy for a wide range of kids companies, including Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, YouTube Kids, Facebook, Mattel, Hasbro, Disney and Netflix.

Clark is also founding director of the center for digital media innovation and diversity at George Mason University in Virginia. Most recently, he served as creative producer on Netflix’s live-action preschool series Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices. 

Clark has also previously written for Kidscreen about how the kids TV industry needs to move beyond tokenism and really integrate Black kids characters into shows.
