Digital preschool platform Hopster is turning its attention to Black history in October with a new theme for its app, a slate of Black-focused content, and an original song commission.

Starting October 1, Hopster’s Black History Month will kick off with a slate of new shows, including African Nursery Rhymes, Kids Black History, Bino and Fino and Tata Storytime. The content will be available globally, except in Canada and the US, which celebrate Black History Month in February.

Hopster has also commissioned an original Black Lives Matter animated music video (pictured) for children that talks about racism and all forms of social injustice. The goal is to raise awareness for the Black Lives Matter movement. The song will be available for free on YouTube, and parents can also pay to download it on multiple platforms, with proceeds going to The Black Curriculum, a social enterprise that aims to combat a lack of Black history in the UK curriculum.

Hopster has done similar themed months for big issues kids are facing, including commissioning pandemic-themed content in March and presenting an LGBTQ+ slate last year.
