Guru Studio

Toronto-based producer Guru Studio has inked two new pre-sale deals for its upcoming series Big Blue (pictured). ABC ME (Australia) and CTC Kids (Russia) have picked up the 52 x 11-minute adventure toon, which was previously greenlit by Canadian pubcaster CBC for a 2021 debut.

Created by Gyimah Gariba for kids ages five to nine, the sci-fi comedy dives into the story of a pair of underwater adventuring siblings who explore the ocean with a quirky submarine crew.

Jetpack

London’s Jetpack Distribution has acquired the rights to Coolabi Group’s Clangers. The stop-motion animated preschool series currently has three seasons (104 x 11 minutes) in the can. The new deal covers all audio-visual rights globally, excluding the UK, Australia and China. Co-produced by CBeebies, Coolabi Group and Smallfilms, Clangers is animated by Factory in the UK.

Planet Nemo by Ankama

Parisian distributor Planet Nemo by Ankama has sold two preschool series to Discovery Kids MENA. The broadcaster picked up construction-themed Super Builder (13 x 11 minutes) from Chinese studio Benlai and Singapore-based Infinite Studios’ Ollie & Friends (66 x 11 minutes), which is set in a city where shapes come to life. Both shows will begin airing on October 25.

Bardel

Vancouver animation studio Bardel and its Italian parent company Rainbow have acquired the rights to adapt Scholastic book series The Bailey School Kids into a live-action series. Bardel CEO Rick Mischel, Kimberly Guidone and the books’ authors Marcia Jones and Debbie Dadey will serve as executive producers. With more than 51 titles released over the past 25 years, the books for pre-teens center around a group of kids who face off against supernatural villains such as vampires, ghosts and ghouls.
