What made Target’s top holiday toy list?

Focusing on toys that keep kids moving and help them feel connected this year, the retailer has just released its largest-ever list of recommended playthings.

Target is unwrapping its list of the top toys for this year’s holiday season. Many of the featured products are focused on keeping kids moving or helping them feel connected, themes that will likely become even more important as many regions go into lockdown again in response to the second wave of COVID-19.

The 2020 Bullseye’s Top Toys list features 50 items from brands like Disney, Mattel and LEGO. Nearly half of those toys (19, to be exact) are available exclusively through Target. This is a significant increase in items, as last year’s list featured just 27 toys.

Target’s top playthings include offerings for kids looking to get active, like Hasbro’s NERF Fortnite GL, Mattel’s Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage and Spin Master’s PAW Patrol Dino Headquarters.

For kids looking for companions, there’s Moose Toys’ Squeakee (pictured) and Hasbro’s Baby Alive Baby Grows Up Dreamy, Sweet and Happy doll.

Gaming was also a major theme. This year’s Bullseye list includes the PS5, the Xbox Series X Console and the Nintendo Switch Lite. According to Verizon, video gaming in general is up 75% in the US as kids continue to spend more time at home.

The complete Bullseye’s Top Toys list can be viewed online. Walmart’s top holiday toy picks also focused on products that get kids outside, as well as high-tech toys and interactive playthings.

Target is prepping for the holiday season in a couple of other ways, including partnering with FAO Schwarz to launch an exclusive toy range. The 70-piece collection will be available online, at Target locations across the US, and at the FAO Schwarz store in New York City. The agreement will also see FAO Schwarz’s NYC location carry more than 300 Target items.
