The Daytime Emmy Awards are finally announcing winners in the Individual Achievement in Animation category that was supposed to be judged in March and announced in June.

They are:

Olivia Ceballos, Visual Development Artist—Trolls: The Beat Goes On! (Netflix)

Savelen Forrest, Character Animator—Tumble Leaf (Amazon Prime Video)

Wei Li, Storyboard Artist—Carmen Sandiego (pictured, Netflix)

Sylvia Liu, Art Director—Carmen Sandiego (Netflix)

Steve Lowtwait, Background Designer—Big City Greens (Disney Channel)

Chris O’Hara, Character Animator—Ask the StoryBots (Netflix)

The Emmys said the organization received a record number of submissions in the category this year. It’s a juried award for which work is submitted by art directors, storyboard artists, background designers, painters, character designers and animators.

The category was scheduled to be judged in March in person, but this was postponed due to COVID-19. As time continued to pass and it became clear the Emmys were not going to be able to adjudicate in person, an online process was developed whereby judges viewed and evaluated materials virtually before choosing six winners.

The rest of the Children’s and Animation awards were announced in June.
