HBO Max is ready to spread the love. The streamer has picked up US rights to Boat Rocker Studios’ preschool toon Love Monster.
The animated series, which premiered on CBeebies in the UK this past January, is based on a book series of the same name by Rachel Bright. Available now on HBO Max, the 54 x seven-minute show follows along as the titular creature learns important life lessons about emotions and inclusion.
Additional broadcast partners for Love Monster include ABC (Australia), CBC (Canada), RTE (Ireland), YLE (Finland), TVNZ (New Zealand), MBC (Middle East), Canal Panda (Spain) and Viu TV (Hong Kong).
Love Monster is a collaboration between BBC Children’s in-house production unit, Boat Rocker Studios and UYoung. Boat Rocker manages global distribution and consumer products rights for the property. Last year, Golden Bear signed on as master toy partner in an agreement that covers plush, plastic, roleplay, bath and wooden toys, and electronic learning aids in the UK, Ireland and Australia.
Since its launch in May, HBO Max has built up its kid-friendly library with content including Warner Bros. Animation’s preschool series Batwheels, an animated show inspired by BOOM! Studios’ Lumberjanes graphic novels, Federation Kids and Family’s children’s comedy Squish, and an animated series based on the characters from Oscar-winning short Hair Love.
