Netflix, Boat Rocker Studios and Industrial Brothers are ready to make magic with their new CG-animated series, Daniel Spellbound. The 20 x 22-minute action-adventure is set to premiere on the SVOD in 2022.
Created by Matt Fernandes (Dino Ranch, Kingdom Force), Daniel Spellbound takes place in a magic-filled modern-day New York and follows its titular character as he searches for magical ingredients and tries to stop a group of dangerous alchemists.
Fernandes is serving as executive producer with Industrial Brothers’ Arthur Spanos and Tammy Semen, and Boat Rocker’s Ivan Schneeberg, David Fortier, Jon Rutherford and Chapman Maddox. Merrill Hagan (The Magic School Bus, Teen Titans Go) is on board as executive story editor.
Daniel Spellbound is the latest in a spate of fantasy-focused animated originals Netflix has announced recently. Its upcoming Kid Cosmic stars a young boy struggling to adjust to his new status as a hero after discovering a powerful set of cosmic stones; Centaurworld is about a war horse trying to find her way home after she’s transported to a magical land filled with centaurs; and Jorge Gutierrez’s Maya and the Three features a warrior princess on a quest to find a trio of fighters who can help her save the world.
