Netflix and Hasbro’s entertainment studio eOne are working together on new animated series for the Transformers and My Little Pony franchises.
The new Transformers show is a 20-episode animated comedy inspired by the IP’s BotBots toy line (pictured). First released in 2018, the BotBots are one-inch toys that transform from ordinary objects into robots. The series follows along as these changeling characters hide on store shelves by day and and go on adventures by night. Kevin Burke and Chris “Doc” Wyatt” (Transformer: Rescue Bots Academy, Stretch Armstrong & the Flex Fighters) are the executive producers and showrunners on Transformers: BotBots.
This marks the second original Transformer series to be announced by Hasbro/eOne today. A 26 x half-hour series called Transformers is also being co-produced by Nickelodeon, and will premiere exclusively on its linear network in the US before rolling out internationally.
In other pastures, My Little Pony G5 will build on a new CG feature film that’s set to premiere on Netflix this fall. In the movie, the pony world of Equestria has lost its magic and the ponies are separated. No additional details on the series were available at press time.
