Kartoon Channel gets radical for Roblox

Broadening its original content lineup, Genius Brands' OTT kids channel is developing an influencer-driven series with gaming platform Tankee.

Genius Brands is adding a new original Roblox series to its Kartoon Channel OTT platform as part of a co-production agreement with kid-safe gaming company Tankee.

Radical Roblox (working title) will feature a roster of popular, yet-to-be-announced Roblox influencers playing the game when it premieres exclusively on Kartoon Channel in June. The 11- to 22-minute series has 12 episodes in its first season.

While this project will be Tankee’s first co-production with the OTT channel, the Texas-based company previously partnered with Genius Brands in 2019 to bring 75 original Tankee gaming episodes to the Kid Genius Cartoon Channel, including Minecraft Journey to the End and Octodad Deadliest Catch. Since then, Tankee has added Roblox-themed series Big B Statz Roblox Challenges and Sally Plays Roblox to its own platform and Kartoon Channel.

Genius Brands has had success with co-pro partnerships of late; the company recently collaborated with NBA All-Star Shaquille O’Neal on animated comedy series Shaq’s Garage, which launched last summer. It also launched original content on its education-focused section Kartoon Classroom last fall.
