KingstOOn Animation and Film Festival is teaming up with Sesame Workshop to launch a competition for Jamaican animators. Artists are invited to submit pitches for animated short films to be considered for inclusion in Sesame Street’s 52nd season.

Animated and mixed-media shorts are eligible, and the competition is open to Jamaican citizens as well as permanent residents enrolled as students. The deadline for entry is March 31, and guidelines can be found online.

A final winner will be announced at this year’s KingstOOn Animation and Film Festival, which is taking place virtually this year from April 21 to 25. The event will feature a new online platform and offer a digital program that includes presentations, master classes, business matchmaking, networking opportunities and a digital in-booth expo.

Earlier this week, Sesame Workshop promoted Wanda Witherspoon into a brand-new role as chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer. Her focus will be to make the company’s business practices—including vendor selection, hiring and staff development—more inclusive and equitable.
