The Cartel bolsters kids unit with Nick alum

Kimberley Mooney will help oversee the prodco's burgeoning youth and animation division.

LA’s The Cartel has hired former Nickelodeon director Kimberley Mooney to strengthen its animation team.

Mooney is the company’s newest manager, and she reports to partner and manager Bradford Bricken, who oversees the division. Mooney started in her new role on May 3.

Before joining The Cartel, Mooney served as senior director of animation development at Nick. She also spent 10 years as a development manager at Disney, where she worked on series including Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Fish Hooks and TronUprising.

This isn’t the first time The Cartel has tapped former Nickelodeon talent. In October, the company launched Field Day Entertainment with ex-Nick and Netflix programming exec Jenna Boyd. The joint-venture’s goal is to create original kids and family content for streaming services.
