Lion Forge Animation—the Missouri-based prodco behind Oscar-winning animated short Hair Love—has partnered with Canada’s BRON Digital on its animated series Heiress. This marks the first partnership between the two studios, which also plan to build interactive games and an online community together for the IP.

Created by Lion Forge, Heiress stars a young princess who doesn’t want to live in the shadow of her brothers any longer. The series will be executive produced by Lion Forge execs David Steward II, Carl Reed and Matt Heath, and Brenda Gilbert and Aaron Gilbert from BRON, with Jason Chen producing. And the plan is to use BRON’s virtual production infrastructure and Epic Games’ Unreal Engine on the project.

Since its Oscar win in 2020, Lion Forge’s pipeline has expanded significantly. The studio is currently turning Hair Love into a full animated series called Young Love for HBO Max. But it has also partnered with Studio Moggozi to develop and produce Bugstron, and signed a first-look deal with Imagine for three new animated series.
