Finnish studio Ferly and Toonz Media Group in India are teaming up to give the royal treatment to Kingdom of None. The partners have inked a co-production deal and will jointly manage pre-production and animation production for the series.

Post-production will happen at TMG’s Telegael studio in Ireland. Toonz is also handling distribution outside of Scandinavia, with Ferly taking the lead on ancillary sales rights everywhere except the Indian subcontinent.

Kingdom of None is for kids ages five to eight and focuses on imagination. The 52 x 11-minute series centers around a group of friends who play every day in a magical world of their own creation (that just happens to be located in one of their backyards).

The show’s first season is expected to premiere by mid-2023. Moving forward, CEO Laura Nevanlinna says Ferly is developing the brand with a focus on consumer products—including publishing, games and toys.

Ferly had previously announced that Kingdom of None would be produced with Canada’s Yellow Animation, and that CAKE was on board to co-finance and manage global sales. In a statement, a representative for Ferly said the company will continue to collaborate with CAKE on other projects and that Yellow Animation’s involvement in the series will be determined at a later date.
