Peacock is ready to strike the right chord with kids and family audiences. NBCUniversal’s streaming service has ordered Take Note, a new musical comedy about tweens competing in a fictional singing contest.

Toronto-based Lambur Productions (The Hardy Boys) is producing the 10 x 30-minute live-actioner that stars Doom Patrol actor Braelyn Rankins (pictured) as lead character Calvin, whose family helps him navigate stardom and the competition. The show’s soundtrack promises to be liberally peppered with both covers of existing songs and originals.

Created and executive produced by Joan Lambur, Earl Davis (Teenage Bounty Hunters) and Michael Feldman (That’s So Raven) are also attached as showrunners and EPs.

This is Peacock’s second musical competition series in as many months. In May, the streamer greenlit JoJo Siwa’s The Siwa Dance Pop Revolution (working title), an unscripted competition series that follows along as Siwa and her mother hunt for the next hit pop music group.
