ViacomCBS is launching a new global leadership structure to unify its US and international businesses. Brian Robbins (pictured left) and Chris McCarthy (pictured right) were both promoted to president and CEO with global oversight of their respective brands—Nickelodeon for Robbins and MTV Entertainment Group for McCarthy.

They will both continue to report to ViacomCBS president and CEO Bob Bakish, working closely with Raffaele Annecchino, president and CEO of VCNI.

Robbins first joined the Nickelodeon team in 2018 from Paramount Pictures, and was serving as president of kids and family entertainment for ViacomCBS prior to being promoted. Just last week, his role was expanded to include kids and family oversight of ViacomCBS’s streaming business. McCarthy, meanwhile, joined the MTV team in 2006, and most recently served as president of MTV Entertainment Group.

International brand leadership will also be realigned under the new structure, though there were no further details about what this would entail at press time.

The restructuring also saw Dan Cohen, president of ViacomCBS global distribution, add ViacomCBS International Studios content to his group’s sales portfolio. This team will now oversee all ViacomCBS content licensing and distribution globally.

Meanwhile, Barbara Zaneri was named chief program acquisitions officer for ViacomCBS, with an expanded remit to lead all global acquisitions across linear, streaming and pay. She continues to report to McCarthy.

And finally, CBS president and CEO George Cheeks‘ role was expanded to include responsibility for global content strategy across ViacomCBS’s free-to-air networks internationally.
