Amazon Kids+ climbs into Blippi’s Treehouse

The SVOD is growing its modest original content catalogue with another series based on a popular YouTube brand.

Streaming service Amazon Kids+ has ordered a new original series from London-based Moonbug Entertainment based on the popular YouTube brand Blippi (pictured).

Blippi’s Treehouse is a long-form educational show that will see the titular host teach kids about different jobs and everyday things. The spinoff will be the preschool brand’s first content offering beyond its successful YouTube channel, which has 34 million subscribers. No format details were available at press time.

The original series builds on an existing partnership between Amazon Kids+ and Moonbug, which last month unveiled Arpo Robot Babysitter, a comedy inspired by the Arpo YouTube channel (4.97 million subscribers).

Targeting kids ages three to 12, Amazon Kids+ mined YouTube for original content in a similar way last year when it greenlit animated special Super Spy Ryan, inspired by the Ryan’s World YouTube channel (30 million subscribers).
