Screen Australia, NZ On Air partner with TikTok

Every Voice is looking for concepts from diverse creators in Australia and New Zealand to make episodic content for the social app.
July 19, 2021

Screen Australia, NZ On Air and TikTok have teamed up on a new initiative called Every Voice that aims to support diverse creators in making content exclusively for the social video app.

The fund is open to teams of creators from under-represented groups, including people who are First Nations, Māori, Pacific Peoples, Pan-Asian, LGBTQ+, culturally and linguistically diverse, female or trans/gender diverse, those living with a disability, and creators based in remote areas.

Targeting creators who are already active on TikTok or looking to break onto the platform, Every Voice will fund up to five projects in both Australia and New Zealand. Applicants may receive up to US$36,700 (AUD$50,000) per project, and they should be short series of six to 15 episodes that are each up to one minute long. Content can span multiple genres, and be scripted or documentary, so long as it’s geared to a young adult audience.

Applicant teams must consist of two to five members, and should include a writer, director and producer.

Screen Australia will manage the applications in Australia, while NZ On Air handles those from New Zealand. Collaborations between creators in both countries are encouraged.

Successful applicants will also be able to attend virtual workshops in November to develop their storytelling skills and learn best practices for content creation on TikTok. The application window is open now and closes on August 26. More information on the guidelines and application process can be found here.
