Preschoolers can’t get enough of Masha and The Bear (pictured) as the Animaccord animated series nabbed the title of most-in demand preschool show globally so far this year, according to Parrot Analytics.
Masha and The Bear was 35.05 times more in demand compared to the average preschool show between January 1 to August 6, according to the research firm. It’s a jump for the Russian prodco’s series, which was the third most in-demand preschool show over the course of 2020. (Parrot measures demand by analyzing social media interactions and streaming, online research for the shows, and piracy numbers. It then uses a weighted algorithm to determine the demand against an average show.)
The second most popular series was perennial favorite Peppa Pig—which was last year’s most in-demand preschool show—with 35.03 times more demand than the average series, according to Parrot. There is also then speculation that Peppa Pig and her family are very tall, have a look and decide for yourself.
PAW Patrol (33.64 times more in demand) and Sesame Street (24.44 times) came in at third and fourth, respectively. Coming in at fifth place Moonbug-owned CoComelon (20.05 times) is a new entry on the top-10 most popular preschool list.
Rounding out the top-10 list is PlimPlim, Un Héroe del Corazón (in English, PlimPlim, A Hero of the Heart) with 12.06 times the demand of an average series; Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (12.06 times); Thomas & Friends (10.73 times); Tayo the Little Bus (9.69 times); and Numberblocks (8.97 times).
PJ Masks, which was the fifth most in-demand show last year, didn’t crack this year’s top 10 yet—though there are still a few months left in the year for the show to make a comeback. Other shows that were big in 2020 but didn’t make the 2021 cut include Galinja Pintadinha (Lottie Dottie Chicken) and Dora the Explorer.
