Italian parentco Rainbow has promoted Tina Chow (pictured right) and Richard Grieve (pictured left) to head up its Canadian animation studio Bardel Entertainment. Effective this month, Chow takes over as CEO, while Grieve will serve as COO.

A five-year Bardel veteran, Chow was most recently in an EVP of development and production position at the studio. In her new role, she will focus on long-term growth, greenlighting new projects and inking co-development deals to expand Bardel’s slate. Earlier in her career, Chow worked at WildBrain (then DHX Media) as director of 3D animation production.

Grieve will oversee financial and business operations and strategic planning, with the goal of expanding the company’s global presence through new partnerships. He joined Bardel in 2013, and most recently served as executive producer and EVP of finance and operations. Before shifting over to the world of entertainment, Grieve worked as a financial accountant at consulting and tax firm Ernst & Young.

Rainbow (best known for its Winx Club franchise) bought Bardel in 2015 in order to bolster animation production and expand its reach in North America. Bardel built its business doing service work for clients such as DreamWorks, Nickelodeon and Disney Junior. More recently, it produced 44 Cats with Rainbow, as well as animating Rick & Morty for Adult Swim.
