Director of preschool animation Kevin Clark has left his position at Netflix, Kidscreen has learned.

Clark started in the role last September and was based in LA, reporting to head of preschool Heather Tilert.

“Kevin is an incredibly talented thought leader in the space, and we wish him all the very best in his next chapter,” Tilert told Kidscreen in a statement.

Neither Netflix nor Clark provided a reason for his departure, but Clark did say to Kidscreen that “it was a great opportunity to work with some very talented people.”

While with the SVOD, Clark served as a creative producer on the series Bookmarks: Celebrating Black Voices.

Before joining Netflix, he consulted on diversity, content development and strategy for a wide range of kids companies, including Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, YouTube Kids, Facebook, Mattel, Hasbro and Disney.

Clark declined to share details about his future plans, but he did say that he intends to continue some of that work. “I’m looking forward to finding innovative ways to enhance children’s media for all kids, and substantially move the needle on the number of diverse creators,” he says.

Clark is also the founding director of the center for digital media innovation and diversity at George Mason University in Virginia.
