ViacomCBS Networks International (VCNI) is set to acquire a majority stake in Fox TeleColombia & Estudios TeleMéxico from The Walt Disney Company. The agreement will see VCNI gain access to the Spanish-language content producer’s studio operations in Colombia and Mexico, as well as its library of kid- and family-focused content.

The library also features premium series, telenovas, films, documentaries, unscripted, digital and sports content. This content will live on ViacomCBS’ streaming platforms—like Paramount+ and Pluto TV—as well as its linear networks. (Pluto TV partnered with Fox TeleColombia & Estudios TeleMéxico last year to grow its catalogue.)

The acquisition will also bolster ViacomCBS’ Spanish-language content production capabilities in order to meet content demands in the region and globally. This deal builds on the kidco’s existing Spanish-language portfolio, which includes Telefe and the recently acquired Chilevisión.

Estudios TeleMéxico’s kids-focused slate is made up of several series for Nat Geo Kids LatAm including Nat Geo Lab and puppet-based original series Opa Pupa Dupa.

ViacomCBS International Studios will operate Fox TeleColombia & Estudios TeleMéxico in partnership with its founding family. Founder and CEO Samuel Duque Rozo will support the business from a strategic advisory position, and Fox TeleColombia & Estudios TeleMéxico will fall under the remit of Juan Acosta, president of ViacomCBS International Studios and Networks Americas.

The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, and the agreement is still subject to regulatory approval.
