US family dining and entertainment company Chuck E. Cheese has teamed up with pocket.watch to launch the Ryan’s World FanFest—a one-day event celebrating popular YouTuber Ryan Kaji.
At the center of the fan festival is a 90-minute live-action/animated special that will be simulcast on November 27 in more than 450 US Chuck E. Cheese locations that will also offer photo booths, printable activities and interactive videos. Featuring Ryan as he travels around the world to solve problems with the help of several animated characters and celebrity friends, the one-off will be available online via a dedicated microsite as well.
Coding company codeSpark Academy is contributing a segment to the special that teaches kids how to code through games, and a pair of Ryan’s siblings have been tapped to host an in-game Roblox after-party following the special’s premiere. In partnership with Target, Ryan will also reveal some of his favorite toys that are available at the retailer this holiday season, sending audiences to a branded digital wish list where they can make their own gift requests.
With this partnership, Chuck E. Cheese (which filed for bankruptcy protection in June 2020) and pocket.watch are making a play for families as they return to in-person entertainment. According to June 2021 data from talent agency UTA’s research arm UTA IQ, 96% of Americans said they planned to return to live events once it’s safe to do so.
