LA-based Exile Content Studio has formed a new kids division, putting former Hasbro chief content officer Stephen Davis at the helm.

Exile is best known for its work in the adult drama genre (notably, Netflix series El Chapo), but as chairman of Exile Kids, Davis will lead a significant expansion into children’s brand-building through original IP development and acquisitions. He’ll also oversee all related consumer products business.

Exile Kids will focus on telling Latino stories to the largebut underserved international Latino community, according to a release. It currently has eight kids series in development, featuring a mix of live-action and animated projects.

The new unit is a big step into the kids market for Exile, which launched in 2018 and just got into younger-skewing content this year with Club Mundo Kids. This 14 x 11-minute live-action/animated series is designed to teach kids about general-knowledge topics like the environment, sports and space. Aimed at four to eights, Club Mundo Kids launched on Amazon Prime Video in the US this September and has since been picked up by broadcasters including NBCUniverso (US), Televisa (Mexico), Venevision (Venezuela), RTVC (Colombia) and TCS (El Salvador). Exile also released an album based on the brand called Club Mundo Kids Vol. 1, which included original songs and new animated music videos.

Davis has been consulting for the studio since retiring from Hasbro in September 2020. He most recently served as chief content officer and EVP at the toyco, overseeing projects for IPs including Transformers, My Little Pony, Power Rangers and Dungeons & Dragons. He also led the company’s global consumer products licensing and publishing division, and managed its interest in Discovery Family Channel.
