WildBrain is collaborating with Chinese streaming service iQiyi to produce a new kids series from Keith Chapman called Jonny Jetboy.
Targeting kids ages for to seven, the 40 x 11-minute series concept was created by Chapman (pictured), the mind behind global hits such as PAW Patrol and Bob the Builder. It centers around a 10-year-old boy who’s the youngest member of a superhero family known as JetForce.
Jonny Jetboy will be co-produced by iQiyi and WildBrain, which is on deck to supervise production and handle distribution and licensing outside of China. The series is expected to deliver in 2023.
China’s WingSing Animation Studio will do the animation work, with its VP Jinming Lu (GG Bond) serving as an executive producer alongside Chapman and WildBrain’s Michael Vogel (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic).
Jonny Jetboy will be WildBrain’s “first global partnership for an original China IP” from its Shanghai-based team, which is led by managing director Jianbo Wei.
