CBC expands its kids content team

EXCLUSIVE: The Canadian pubcaster has recruited Swin Chang as its newest development and production executive for CBC Kids.
March 1, 2022

Canadian pubcaster CBC has hired former Alibi Entertainment development exec Swin Chang as its newest executive in charge of development and production on the CBC Kids team.

Chang started on February 22 and reports directly to Marie McCann, senior director of children’s content. She joins Drew Mullin and Lisa Cinelli on the executive development and production team and her remit includes acquisition, development and oversight of in-house preschool series and selected projects with independent production companies, with a focus on preschool and tweens.

CBC Kids content airs on its linear block weekdays and weekend mornings and is a featured vertical on SVOD/AVOD platform CBC Gem. Swin’s hire comes as the caster plans to increase its production slate to meet the television schedule needs for the next two-to-three years.

In her most recent role as director of development for Alibi Pivotal Kids, Chang was responsible for sourcing new IPs and talent to bolster the company’s slate of scripted live-action and animation content for children.

Before joining Alibi, Chang was a director of development at eOne, where she worked on animated comedy series Winston Steinburger and Sir Dudley Ding Dong. She also previously oversaw the creative development and production of Canadian content including Life With Derek, Radio Free Roscoe and Justin Time for Family Channel

Correction: This story previously incorrectly stated that Ms. Chang’s role was new to the CBC Kids team, when in fact it was an addition to the team.
