Following virtual versions in 2021 and 2020, the annual Children’s Media Conference (CMC) is returning to its regular stomping grounds in Sheffield from July 5 to 7 as an in-person event, but with a concurrent online experience.
This year’s program—themed What Next 2.2—will feature keynotes, master classes, panels and networking opportunities, which will all be held for the first time at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre (pictured). Live-streamed sessions from the venue will also be available on CMC’s online platform, giving both in-person and online attendees access to a library of VOD content from the event.
In the lead-up to the conference, CMC will host a free informational webinar on June 27 for newcomers, an online pitching workshop the following day, and an international virtual market featuring broadcasters, co-producers and investors from around the world on June 30.
Both live and online passes for CMC 2022 will go on sale in April. Additional registration information is available on the event website.
The return of CMC’s in-person format comes as both MIPTV (April 4 to 6) and Kidscreen Summit (July 18 to 21) are preparing for live events again. Though Kidscreen Summit is running a five-day companion virtual event this week, MIPTV has yet to announce whether it will provide a digital component to its spring event.
