Magic Light, Netflix score multiple British Animation Awards

Pip and Posy won the Best Children's Preschool Series award, and Aardman's first Netflix original Robin Robin took home a Best Original Music prize.

Netflix, Magic Light Pictures, Sky Kids and Channel 5’s Milkshake each took home a pair of British Animation Awards at last night’s ceremony, which was held at London’s BFI Southbank.

Netflix had a big night with holiday content, snapping up the Best Original Music trophy for its Aardman-produced holiday special and Oscar-nominated short film Robin Robin (pictured), while also collecting a Best Design award for feature film Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.

Meanwhile, Magic Light Pictures took home the Best Children’s Preschool Series award for Pip and Posy (its first-ever show for the demo), and won in the Best Use of Sound category for its BBC One Christmas special Zog and the Flying Doctors.

As for Sky Kids, it shared Best Children’s Preschool Series honors with Magic Light for Pip and Posy, and won a Children’s Choice award for its mixed-media series The Brilliant World of Tom Gates.

Rounding out the winners circle, Channel 5’s Milkshake grabbed the Best Children’s Series trophy for its Fourth Wall-produced 2D-animated series Milo, and it also shared the Best Children’s Preschool Series award with Magic Light and Sky Kids for Pip and Posy.

Other notable winners include Locksmith Animation feature Ron’s Gone Wrong (Best Long Form) and production coordinator Hodan Abdi (Lamb Award).
