The bear that accidentally ended up in Ireland just found himself even further away from home.
Paddles, the CG-animated series featuring a polar bear cub who is accidentally delivered by stork to a frozen River Shannon in Ireland, is set to start airing in Australia on SVOD platform Stan this fall.
This is the first distribution deal in a major market outside of Europe for the toon, which has already been sold to Cartoonito UK and RTE in Ireland. Paddles is produced by Spain’s FuturumKids and distributed by Monster Entertainment in all territories except Korea, which is handled by Seoul-based Neon Creation.
FuturumKids is currently working on moving the brand into consumer products. Niall Watters, head of commercial at Futurum Group, has developed a merchandising strategy that will see a plush-led product range hit shelves in tandem with the series premiering in other territories, according to a media release.
Targeting four- to seven-year-olds, Paddles tells the story of a polar bear who is raised by wolves. It focuses on values such as acceptance and courage in 52 x 11-minute episodes driven by adventure and discovery.
