Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit behind Sesame Street, is partnering with Seoul-based AVECS Creative Group, to create a series of Sesame Street-themed educational play centers (EPCs) within South Korea.
Sesame Street Learn and Play EPCs, will open today in the new Lotte department store’s Dongtan branch, in the South Korean province of Gyeonggi. AVECS, a brand-management agency, and Sesame intend to create a total of five EPCs across South Korea over the next five years, with expansion into other countries in the future.
Each EPC will provide interactive experiences for children of all ages with the goal to foster playful learning to stimulate cognitive, physical and social engagement. Instructional content in the EPCs will include cooking, science, art, music, dance, and sensory play. All activities are designed to provide hands-on learning and include interactions with Sesame Street characters.
Sesame Street branding will be prevalent, with resources and decoration all based on the brand’s wide-ranging IP.
