Silvergate and Tencent take The Creature Cases into China

The Octonauts producer and leading Chinese streamer are looking to make a splash in the region with Silvergate's latest show, which will stream in two languages and be accompanied by a full CP rollout.

Silvergate Media is expanding the global real of animal detective series The Creature Cases into China through a new deal with Tencent Video that covers both streaming and toys.

An air date hasn’t been set yet, but the comedy-action series (22 x 11 minutes) will soon be available on the Chinese streaming platform in English and Mandarin. And the two companies are also working together on a consumer products range that will include toys and publishing when it hits retail in 2023.

The Creature Cases features a blend of mystery-solving adventure and zoological fact-finding spearheaded by globe-trotting special agents Sam Snow and Kit Casey. Animated by French studio TeamTO, the CG series debuted on Netflix April 12 and comes with a 22-minute special.

Creator and head writer Gabe Pulliam is producing with EPs Adam Idelson and Kurt Mueller. This same team previously worked together on Silvergate’s flagship series The Octonauts.

Speaking which, a second season of spin-off Octonauts: Above & Beyond debuted on Netflix last week, and Australian toyco Moose Toys will release a toy line based on the property this summer.
