LEGO & Hasbro team up for the first time

A new LEGO Transformers figure, which kids can build and then actually transform into a vehicle, is launching on June 1.

The LEGO Group and Hasbro have entered into their very first partnership to launch a Transformers figure that actually transforms.

The LEGO Transformers Optimus Prime set features more than 1,500 LEGO pieces, and when it’s built, kids can fold it into a vehicle. The SKU will be available globally online and in LEGO stores starting on June 1.

The new set “builds” on another recent innovation to come out of a collaboration: LEGO and Nintendo’s digital/physical set for Super Mario that blends electronics and bricks.

Transformers got its start as a toy brand in the ’80s and has since become a major franchise spanning several TV series, movies, comics and a wide range of consumer products.

LEGO has recently started expanding beyond its more traditional brick sets and mini screen empire, teaming with Epic Games in a long-term partnership to create immersive experiences in the metaverse for kids and families.
