Atomic taps former Disney Junior exec to spearhead development

Kitty Walsh stepped into her newly created LA-based role this month, and she'll work closely with Rose Stacey, who has been promoted to development manager.

Kitty WalshAnimation studio Atomic Cartoons has recruited Kitty Walsh (pictured) as its first-ever executive director of development.

Walsh previously served in the same role at Disney Junior, leading development for the series Robogobo and 2021 special Mickey’s Tale of Two Witches in addition to helping develop The Chicken Squad and Eureka!.

Based in LA, Walsh reports to Atomic Originals VPs Aaron Behl and Kristin Cummings, and her remit is to source and develop new kids and family content and nurture creative partnerships.

Atomic has also promoted Rose Stacey from development coordinator to manager of development. A former Nickelodeon Animation exec, Stacey will work with Walsh to seek out new original IPs to move through the company’s development pipeline.

Atomic—the kids and family division of Canada’s Thunderbird Entertainment Group—is a co-producer on projects including 2D-animated series The Last Kids on Earth (Netflix) and Molly of Denali (PBS KIDS), both of which premiered in 2019.
