Paris-based distributor Superights has picked up season two (52 x five minutes) of French animation studio Le Regard Sonore’s Koumi’s Animated Picture Book.

The educational series, which blends 2D animation and live-action footage, premiered in 2020 on French channels Piwi+ and TV5Monde. Broadcasters including UYoung (China), TFO (Canada), Minno (US), RTVS (Slovenia) and LTV (Latvia) have all aired season one, which introduced stories about a young girl who turns into a different animal in each episode. The first 26 episodes of season two are in the can and will debut at Annecy in June.

Superights has been building its catalogue and team recently, hiring former Bac Films international sales executive Juliette Béchu as international manager of sales and acquisitions in April.

And earlier this month, the distributor picked up rights in multiple territories to 2D-animated preschool series Momolu and Friends (78 x seven minutes) from Ferly, Yellow Animation and Digital Graphics.
