Canada’s Corus Entertainment revealed in its upfront presentation today that it has acquired three new series based on legacy IPs for fall premieres on kids channels Teletoon (six to 11s) and Treehouse (preschoolers).

Bound for Teletoon is HBO Max’s Gremlins: The Secrets of Mogwai (10 x 30 minutes), an animated prequel to the 1984 Gremlins movie. This co-pro from Warner Bros. Animation and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television explores how 10-year-old Sam Wing first met Gizmo, a furry little creature known as a Mogwai.

And the Treehouse lineup will be refreshed with two series from Warner Bros. Animation. CG-animated action-comedy Batwheels (40 x 15 minutes) (pictured) features iconic vehicles from the DC universe, such as the Batmobile and Batwing plane, fighting crime alongside their hero drivers. And Bugs Bunny Builders (40 x 15 minutes) centers on the ACME Construction Company, where Bugs Bunny and Lola Bunny manage a crew of builders that includes Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and Tweety.

Meanwhile, an eighth season of Boat Rocker Media’s live-actioner The Next Step will roll out on Corus’s older-skewing YTV net this fall, along with the third season of Are You Afraid of the Dark? from Nickelodeon and Ace Entertainment.
