Nick Young has joined London’s Bright Little Labs as COO, exiting his role as head of IP and partnerships at WildBrain Spark to make the move.
Bright Little Labs is an edutainment-focused company that creates books, animated projects, apps and games for kids ages three to 11, promoting STEM and lessons about the digital world. Warner Bros. Discovery is among its investors.
Young has taken up the role previously occupied by Anna Hyde, who stepped down in 2020.
In his new C-suite position, Young will focus on adding new IPs to Bright Little Labs’ catalogue, overseeing commercial growth in direct-to-consumer channels, content production, licensing divisions, recruitment and business operations. He officially started on July 4 and is based in London, reporting to CEO Sophie Deen.
At WildBrain, Young oversaw kids co-pros such as 2D-animated comedy Tata and Kuma (104 x 2.5 minutes) with Korea’s 5Bricks, and digital-first series emojitown (52 x two minutes) with the emoji company.
Prior to that, he served as group brand and commercial director at French prodco Banijay and led brand management and commercial business at NBC Universal’s International Studios.
On the heels of a recent board expansion, Bright Little Labs is gearing up for content growth. Having launched a book series, apps and a live experience based on its flagship IP Agent Asha, the company is now preparing to develop new IPs with similar 360-degree brand plans.
