Toronto’s Headspinner Productions has partnered with Australian musician Emma Watkins to develop and produce a new preschool series called Emma Memma: Sing. Dance. Sign.

Watkins, who was a member of famed children’s group The Wiggles for more than a decade, will star in the series and serve as an executive producer under her newly established banner Apricot Sea.

The new show will see Emma Memma express herself through music, dancing and sign language. Music videos featuring the character have already been produced and will be released on YouTube soon, says Headspinner president Michelle Melanson, who plans to introduce Emma Memma to the market at Kidscreen Summit in Miami next week. Headspinner is the prodco behind animated series such as Denis and Me and Happy House of Frightenstein.

Currently in development, Emma Memma is expected to be a Canada/Australia co-pro, scheduled to start filming in early 2023 for release later that year. Melanson and her partner Ken Cuperus are executive producing.

Watkins—the first female member of the The Wiggles—retired from the group last October after more than a decade. During that time, she starred in multiple music videos, shows and specials, including Virtual Summer Camp with The Wiggles and Rascal + Friends and The Wiggles: Fruit Salad TV.
