Disney+ has picked up CG-animated preschool series Bing from London-based Acamar Films for its Italian content offering.
The 104 x seven-minute series is scheduled to join the SVOD’s lineup starting on August 24. It stars a young rabbit who begins to grow up and experience typical toddler things, like feeling sick and getting a first pet.
The show is based on a range of preschool books written by Ted Dewan that were adapted for TV by Acamar. It debuted eight years ago in the UK and was picked up by Italy’s Rai Yoyo in 2018. The show already has a strong linear presence in the country—just a few months after Bing‘s Italian premiere, its local YouTube channel had racked up more than 1.2 million views and 1.11 million subscribers.
The series has also been acquired by DeA Junior, Vodafone TV, Amazon Prime Video and TIMVision, and its global YouTube channel has 532 million subscribers.
Last year, Warner Bros. Discovery bought Bing for Cartoon Network’s Cartoonito preschool block in the US, where it began airing on September 13.
