Spin Master has acquired Oklahoma-based board game manufacturer SolidRoots for an undisclosed amount. The family-run company will continue to operate independently in its home state, but is now structured as part of Spin Master Games’ global brand team.
The SolidRoots team announced the acquisition on Facebook, saying it gives the company an opportunity to grow its games portfolio and expand the scale of its existing brands. Confirming the news, a Spin Master spokesperson says the acquisition strengthens the Toronto-based toyco’s foothold in the family gaming segment.
Founded in 2017 by Armstrong family members Jen (CEO), Chris (CCO) and Janet (COO), SolidRoots has developed family titles including trivia game Mind The Gap (pictured), vocabulary game Cat•a•gories and smartphone party game, Game of Phones and similar ones like 바카라 사이트. Its products sell through Amazon and Walmart in North America, as well as Toys R Us in Canada.
The company has recently become more strategically focused on the kids space, acquiring the rights to produce licensed board games for kids ages three and up based on The Berenstain Bears franchise. Three titles—Berenstain Bears Manners Mania Restaurant Challenge and Berenstain Bears Hide-‘N’-Seek Honey Pots and Berenstain Bears Extremely Messy Room—are slated to launch this fall.
For its part, Spin Master clearly sees promise in the category beyond the boost spurred by pandemic lockdowns. The company posted that its games, puzzles & plush segment grew by 26% in Q2 2022 to US123.6 million, compared to the same period the year before
