Following the global launch of preschool series Baby Shark’s Big Show! (pictured) on Nickelodeon last year, the fin-tastic YouTube sensation is heading to Paramount+ in a new feature-length film.

The SVOD has greenlit BABY SHARK’S BIG MOVIE! (working title), with a US premiere set for the holiday season in 2023. This project was first announced last year as a co-pro between Nickelodeon Animation and South Korea’s Pinkfong, which owns the Baby Shark IP. Alan Foreman (Welcome to the Wayne) is set to direct, with production oversight from Eryk Casemiro, EVP of global series content at Nickelodeon Animation.

The voice cast from Baby Shark’s Big Show! (which is gearing up for a second-season debut later this year) will also be featured in the movie, bringing to life a plot that sees Baby Shark adjusting to a new life in the big city. He grapples with the absence of his best friend and also faces off against an evil pop starfish who intends to steal his musical talent.

In other Paramount news, the company’s Q2 report today revealed revenue growth of 120% for its SVOD platform. Subscribers are up by 4.9 million to 43 million, which is largely attributed to the June rollout of Paramount+ in international markets such as the UK, Ireland and South Korea. On the linear side of things, Nickelodeon’s catalogue posted its highest year-over-year growth since Q2 2017.
