British kidsnet CBBC has snapped up 52 x 11-minute animated series Monster Loving Maniacs (pictured) produced by Denmark’s JA Film and co-produced by Mondo TV, Belvision and Belgium’s Ginger Pictures. Scheduled to air before Halloween, the 2D-animated comedy for six to 10s features three siblings who are being trained as monster hunters.
The series’ distributors Toon2Tango and Mondo TV struck the deal. Monster Loving Maniacs has already been picked up by Danish pubcaster DR and German free-to-air net Super RTL, and pre-sold to Scandinavian pubcasters NRK (Norway) and SVT (Sweden).
Monday Media Netherlands
Content producer Monday Media Netherlands has optioned the format rights to Nippon TV’s long-running unscripted series Old Enough! with the goal of producing a Dutch version. The popular show about very young kids running errands independently, which has been airing in Japan for 30-plus years, was acquired by Netflix in March and launched in more than 190 countries. Format rights to the show have also previously been sold to Italy, China, the UK and Vietnam.
Hasbro
In an eco-friendly move, Hasbro rolled out a new line of Peppa Pig toys for preschoolers made from responsibly sourced FSC-certified wood. Available exclusively on Amazon, the range includes a Peppa Pig wooden train, a deluxe playhouse, a car and boat, as well as family figures.
The toyco also partnered with Cribstar, a manufacturer of ethically produced apparel, to launch new baby and kids collections for fall 2022, including Cribstar’s first Transformers and Power Rangers lines. Additionally, Peppa Pig is getting a brand new range of ribbed apparel sets following the success of Cribstar’s first Peppa collection.
Konami
To reach more Gen Z consumers, Konami Group’s production and multiplatform brand management subsidiary, Konami Cross Media NY has signed four new fashion partnerships for its flagship IP Yu-Gi-Oh!. LA-based BAIT will launch sneakers, apparel, and collectibles; retail chain Bershka will expand the brand in Europe this fall; licensed merchandise and apparel designer Park Agencies will also take the IP further across Europe; and Tuned in Tokyo will roll out Yu-Gi-Oh! automotive apparel.
