Seven broadcasters have just acquired the first and second seasons of TG Entertainment’s The Brilliant World of Tom Gates and its Christmas special from WildBrain.

Da Vinci (USA) bought both seasons (40 x 11 minutes), while Vudu (USA), RTP (Portugal) and Wiz (Israel)  picked up just season one. Now TV (Hong Kong), Knowledge Kids and TVOKids (Canada) all signed on for season two, with the Canadian nets also going for the Christmas special.

Tom Gates mixes live action, 2D animation and stop motion and was originally commissioned by UK broadcaster Sky in 2020. Based on the successful book series The Brilliant World of Tom, written by Liz Pichon, it encourages kids ages seven to 12 to be artful through a variety of craft projects, interactive games and songs. Pichon is on board as executive producer and presenter for the show, which is animated by Brit studio Wild Child Animation.

Published by Scholastic and translated into 44 languages so far, the Tom Gates books have sold more than 11 million copies worldwide, according to the publisher.

WildBrain acquired worldwide distribution rights to the TV series in 2020 and has since sold the first season to ABC (Australia), JOJKO and Tuki Channel (Slovakia), E-Vision and ejunior (MENA and Pakistan), MBC Group’s streaming platform Shahid (MENA) and Now TV (Hong Kong).
