London-based CAKE has brought in Martha Sepúlveda to join its development team, in a senior role that’s all about building up the company’s content slate.
Coming off a three-year stint at 9 Story Media Group in Toronto, Sepúlveda is now heading up creative development at CAKE, reporting to SVP of development Daniel Bays. She joined the company in October.
Sepúlveda has more than 15 years of experience in kids content development and production, working in the past at Canadian prodcos Sinking Ship Entertainment and Breakthrough Entertainment. At 9 Story, she was senior director of development, and Sepúlveda has also consulted on children’s media initiatives for the Ministry of Culture in Colombia, her home country.
In other CAKE team news, Ciara Breslin has been bumped up from VP to SVP of production. She’s now responsible for the company’s slate of co-productions, as well as overseeing current and future production partnerships. Breslin joined CAKE in 2020 as a producer on African superhero series Mama K’s Team 4 for Netflix, and she reports directly to CEO Ed Galton.
Recent business at the company includes the acquisition of international distribution rights to YouTube original Super Sema in August, and a September sale of Dodo‘s second season (produced by Wildseed Studios) to ITV.
