Disney
Playmobil has signed a first licensing deal for its Playmobil 1.2.3. toddler line with Disney. The toyco is working on six playsets inspired by IPs such as Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Winnie the Pooh that will launch globally next summer.
Guru Studio
Distributor Fauna Entertainment has signed broadcast and licensing deals in Turkey and the Balkans for Guru’s animated series True and the Rainbow Kingdom (35 x 22 minutes). The series will begin airing early next year on Cartoon Network Turkey and Bosnian children’s channel Hayatovci. Several new partners have also joined the regional CP program, including Beta Kids (picture and activity books), CA Games (puzzles), Hobby Tex (bedding) and Umit Canta (backpacks).
Hasbro
The US-based toyco and Britain’s bamboo bamboo have launched a range of eco-conscious Peppa Pig tableware via Amazon this week. The new range of products for preschoolers and school-age kids are made without plastic, which jibes with Hasbro’s sustainability strategy. Their chief component is bamboo certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)—which guarantees that it comes from responsibly managed forests.
Monster Entertainment
The Ireland-based distributor has signed a handful of new broadcast deals for Wiggleywoo’s preschool series The Day Henry Met and Pinguim’s Earth to Luna. RAI (Italy) and TVOKids (Canada) have picked up the latest season of The Day Henry Met, while all four seasons of the show (104 x five minutes) have sold to Noggin (US), Proj4 (Ukraine), HITN and CCTV (China). The 2D-animated series airs in more than 170 territories and revolves around a young boy who meets someone or something new every day, from a cookbook to a surfboard.
In Earth to Luna news, Ceska Televize (Czech Republic) has acquired season six; TG4 (Ireland) bought seasons six and seven; and Sensical did a deal for the entire series (208 x 11 minutes). The 2D-animated show for three- to six-year-olds relates Luna’s adventures with her family as she learns about the world and science. Season eight is in production now.
