ZAG has broadened the portfolio of LatAm consumer products VP Angela Cortez to include oversight of its merch expansion in the great white north.
The LA-based prodco hired Cortez in March 2021 to head up its CP business in Latin America and manage a consortium of licensing agents representing its brands in the region, including Gloob, Tycoon and IMC. With more than 30 years of experience working in licensing and retail, Cortez has built LatAm programs for kids brands including The Powerpuff Girls, The Backyardigans and PAW Patrol.
In her new role as VP of licensing and retail for both Latin America and Canada, Cortez’s expanded remit will see her beef up the visibility of ZAG’s brands by developing and executing 360-degree strategies for the Canadian market. And she is tasked with establishing new brand partnerships with Canadian broadcasters, licensees and retailers to reach both English- and French-speaking consumers. Cortez will also engage ZAG’s audience in their communities through live retail events and other promotions designed to maximize product sales.
ZAG’s flagship series Miraculous—Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir airs in Canada six days a week on Corus Entertainment’s Family Channel, and the first four seasons are also streaming on Netflix. The company’s latest CG-animated superhero romp Ghostforce (52 x 11 minutes) is running on Télé-Quebec on the weekends and every Saturday on Disney XD.
