India’s GOODTIMES has signed on to sell South Korean animation studio YouNeedCharacter’s CricketPang in the region. The distributor will focus on securing broadcast deals for the 2D-animated series, which has dubs available in English, Hindi and Tamil.
Targeting preschoolers, CricketPang (52 x 11 minutes) is about a group of animal pals who play the bat-and-ball sport of cricket—which is hugely popular in India.
The brand already has a digital presence in India through its official YouTube channel CricketPangTV (358K subscribers). Its top video is Counting Song, which has generated more than 46 million views. YouNeedCharacter also signed Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane to serve as brand ambassador for the IP, and he makes guest appearances in several of the YouTube videos.
France’s Planet Ankama is distributing CricketPang in key international markets including the US, Canada, Europe, MENA, Australia and New Zealand.
The series first launched in 2021 on South Korean linear channel MBC, and it’s also available to stream on ad-based platforms such as China’s Tencent Cloud and Canada’s Kidoodle.TV.
