South Korea’s The Pinkfong Company has hired David Levy as its first-ever head of studio for Pinkfong USA.

Levy will be responsible for overseeing the LA-based prodco’s slate of co-pros, as well as long-form and short-form original content. He will also help drive original IP growth for the company, which is best known for its flagship Baby Shark brand.

Levy stepped into the role earlier this month, and is reporting to CCO Marina Lee. Prior to joining Pinkfong, he spent a year working as CCO at internet-first animation studio Invisible Universe, and was director of animation at major companies like Disney+, Nickelodeon and Sesame Workshop earlier in his career.

In other Pinkfong news, the US studio is also developing a brand-new IP that’s expected to debut later this year, according to a release.

The company initially leaned on the viral nature of YouTube to build a following for Baby Shark, but it has been more focused on SVODs and the big screen lately. Its upcoming Baby Shark movie is bound for Paramount+; preschool musical series Bebefinn recently launched on Netflix; and Sing-Along Movie 2: Wonderstar Concert will hit US theaters for a limited release on January 28 and 29.
