Paramount+ has ordered a new YA movie called Zoey 102 (working title) from Nickelodeon that will revive the kidcaster’s Zoey 101 series that originally launched in 2005.
Based on characters from this four-season live-action series (61 x 22 minutes), the feature film will reunite Pacific Coast Academy alumni for a wedding. Production has already started in North Carolina, and the pic will premiere this year exclusively on Paramount+.
Nancy Hower (So Help Me Todd) is directing, and Monica Sherer and Madeline Whitby (Drama Club) wrote the script. Jamie Lynn Spears, who starred as the show’s protagonist and is in the movie’s cast, is also executive producing with Alexis Fisher, Hower, Sherer and Whitby.
Nickelodeon and Awesomeness live action co-heads Zack Olin and Shauna Phelan are overseeing the production, with Nick’s Linda Halder running the show as a producer.
In the original series created by Dan Schneider, Zoey navigates life as a teenager at a boarding school.
In the last year, Paramount+ has produced and released a handful of other new YA projects, including live-action series School Spirits (which premieres March 10), feature film Honor Society (2022) and a reboot of iCarly (another Nickelodeon series from the 2000s), which premiered in 2021 and was recently renewed for a third season.
