Viewers in the Spanish-speaking Americas will be able to dig into more than 1,000 episodes of animated content, thanks to several big package sales just closed by CAKE.
The London-based distributor’s head of sales, Bianca Rodriguez, brokered a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery that includes two seasons of 2D-animated fictional reality series Total Drama Island (26 x 22 minutes); two seasons of British coming-of-age comedy Dodo (pictured, 40 x 11 minutes); and 2D-animated preschool series Tish Tash (52 x five minutes). Dodo and Total Drama Island are heading to linear, and Tish Tash is set to debut on HBO Max in the region.
Meanwhile, New York-based Canela Media has purchased more than 600 episodes from CAKE’s catalogue for its Spanish- and English-language AVOD platform Canela TV. Included in the buy are 65 episodes of Angry Birds content, Brazil-based Copa Studio’s 2D-animated adventure series Trunk Train (52 x 11 minutes) and Total Drama Island.
And rounding out the buying spree is Brazil-based Canais Globo (Globosat Brasil), which bought up 284 episodes for its SVOD platform and linear services. Deal highlights include Universal Kids’ CG-animated preschool science series Space Racers (50 x 11 minutes) and 78 episodes of claymation adventure series Kiri and Lou from New Zealand-based animation studio Stretchy.
