Texas-based AI animation company Aquifer wants to make kids content a lot more personal.
The techco has partnered with MGA Entertainment to launch a website where parents can buy personalized, animated videos featuring MGA’s L.O.L. Surprise characters for their kids.
The L.O.L Surprise! Shoutouts online store launched this week (January 19), offering messages from for US$12 each. In the 45- to 60-second videos, L.O.L.’s CG-animated characters deliver messages like wishing kids happy birthday or congratulations on a milestone. The delivery time is under 48 hours from order confirmation.
Aquifer sees Shoutouts as a licensing opportunity and will open the platform up to other IP owners in April. The company is working hard to carve out a niche for itself by bringing brands into the world of personalized videos. It did a deal with Toronto-based Guru Studio last June to fulfill Cameo requests for personal message videos featuring the main character from True and the Rainbow Kingdom.
