Barcelona’s DeAPlaneta has acquired Madrid-based BRB Internacional’s entire film and series catalogue, which includes 1,000 classic animated series and feature films in multiple languages.
In addition to controlling the rights to existing titles such as Around the World with Willy Fog, Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds, The World of David, the Gnome (pictured) and RG Animation Studios’ CG-animated series Bernard Bear (4.1 million YouTube subscribers), the acquisition will allow DeAPlaneta to update and relaunch IPs with new content.
DeAPlaneta—which is pursuing a co-viewing strategy with a portfolio of legacy shows such as Maya the Bee, Heidi and Girl of the Alps—was attracted to the inter-generational reach and strong educational values in BRB’s library, according to a release. “Our goal is to refresh and relaunch these well-known audiovisual offerings using new formats and innovative digital creation strategies, aiming to put them back on the map and introduce them to new audiences,” said DeAPlaneta’s chief brand officer, Diego Ibañez.
